Blessed Matronushka, every Orthodox knows this name. There is no person who has approached her and has not received help. She embodies an example of humility and prayer. Being blind from birth, the woman had divine vision. Looking into the human essence, she brought love into the world, taught it, healed the suffering and strengthened human faith.

Birth

In the year 81 of the century before last, in the village of Sebino, Tula province, near the Kulikovo field, the blessed one was born. Her parents are poor peasants - Dmitry and Natalia. Matrona was the fourth youngest child. Two brothers and a sister already helped in the household, the fourth newborn child was difficult for elderly parents to raise. Before his birth, Natalia decided to get rid of the burden, but killing a child in the womb in a Christian family was impossible, then it was decided to send the baby to an orphanage for upbringing at public expense. Being in the womb, Matrona appeared in a dream to her mother as her white bird with a human face and eyes closed. She sat on her right hand. The God-fearing Natalia, for God's command, accepted the vision and left the child. She was relieved of the burden, but the blind baby was born. "Unfortunate child" - loving and pitying her daughter, Natalia called her Matronushka. From the womb to the God-chosen is entrusted
cross, Matrona carried it meekly.
The name was chosen in honor of the Matron of Constantinople - a Greek ascetic who lived in the fifth century. During the baptism, a fragrant light smoke descended like a column on the newborn. So it became clear about the chosenness of Matronushka. Another sign of God's chosenness was in the form of a bulge with a cross on her chest and she no longer had to wear a church cross, her God-given cross was prepared for her even in the womb.

Having deprived the girl of sight, the Lord rewarded her with a spiritual look. Her eye sockets were tightly closed, like a bird that appeared to Natalia in a dream. From early childhood, the blind woman was bullied by her peers and preferred games with icons to general games. In the silence of the night, incomprehensibly how, she approached the red corner in the house, took off the icons on the table, and occupied herself with them.

Important!
At the age of 17, another misfortune befell Matrona. She knew her fate - to become sedentary from a meeting with a woman in church. Resignedly accepted God's will at the appointed hour. I didn't resist, I wasn't afraid.

The girl grew up, she predicted many events. She healed and helped, many went to her for help and saw human souls, healed them, helped with advice and instructions. The spiritual life of each person who applied could see. She predicted persecution of churches, and the ruin of villages, revolutionary atheism. And so it happened. Her brothers joined the ranks of the party members, being in their father's house was fraught with arrests for loved ones.

Wandering

The persecution of the Soviet authorities forced the Saint to move to Moscow. The heart of Russia, the Holy City - lovingly she called Moscow. Crowds of physically and spiritually sick, unfortunate, lost people who lost their faith heard about her miraculous prayers and advice and went to her for salvation. Approximate women helped to arrange life. In their memoirs, they write testimonies of God's providence. When people were surprised at her gift, Matrona always answered that she did not create everything, but God made her his mediator, through her he shows his mercy to those who ask and those in need.
Thus began in 1925 her wandering. Arrest was miraculously avoided. Anticipating trouble on the eve of the arrival of the KGB officers, she slipped away to a new shelter. The wanderer changed many cloisters - a plywood building on Pyatnitskaya Street in Sokolniki became one of her shelters, her niece in the basement in Vishnyakovskoye, at the risk of being arrested, sheltered her. At the Nikitsky Gate, at the nephew's in Sergiev Posad, in Tsaritsyno, Matronushka was saved. She lived for seven years on the Arbat in Starokonyushenny Lane - from 42 to 49. Her relatives and relatives were arrested and exiled. Hiding from arrests, wandering through squalid houses, basements, she lovingly met those in need and worked her miracles for them.
The inexhaustible power of her love, prayers saved Muscovites, during the years of the Great Patriotic War, asked to bring willow sticks to those who ask. She broke them into equal parts, cleaned them from the bark, and prayed. A year before the start of the German invasion, Matrona predicted: “Now you are all cursing, dividing, and the war is about to begin. Of course, many people will die, but our Russian people will win.”

Important!
Her words about the battle for Moscow turned out to be prophetic - the enemy will not touch, it will only burn a little. No need to leave Moscow
.
Spiritually, she stayed at the front with the soldiers, helped them.
Several dozens of those who asked were received daily by the Saint. To everyone who helped without a sly one. Someone perceived her as a fortuneteller and healer, someone went without faith, out of despair, but everyone left with love and faith in their hearts. God's man - there was no doubt about it. Selflessly, she read simple prayers known to everyone - "Our Father", "May God rise again", Lord Almighty, God of strength and all flesh "and miracles happened with her prayers. God helps through her prayers, but not she - the woman repeated. And only through prayer, repentance, faith, people found solutions to problems.

Death

At a distant relative in Skhodnya, along 23 Kurgan Street, the Saint found her last earthly shelter. Until the last day, she accepted the afflicted, and only before her death she limited the circle of those who asked. The funeral was served by Father Nikolai Golubtsov, revered by the laity. According to Orthodox custom, a memorial service was held without unnecessary idleness. Here is the dialogue that took place before death at confession with the priest: “Are you really afraid of death too?” "I'm afraid". On May 2, 1952, she left for the Kingdom of God. Like any person, she was afraid of death and did not hide her fear.
On the second day after her death in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, at a memorial service, the priest read a note with her name. The news spread about the departure of Saint Matrona. In the evening, the coffin was installed in the Church of the Deposition of the Robe on Donskaya Street, the monks from the Lavra arrived, and after the funeral, the parishioners kissed her hands.

Important!
Matronushka's Memorial Day - the day and month of burial in 2019 will fall on the feast of the myrrh-bearing women, May 4.

Her grave is located at the Danilovsky cemetery, forgotten according to her own prediction for 30 years. Only the closest came, and as there was no one, the place of burial remained in oblivion. Only in the post-Soviet period, as the Blessed One predicted, crowds of pilgrims reached out to her with their sorrows and requests. As a living thing, she helps those who pray to her, and everyone who trusts herself and her life to her intercession to the Lord will be saved, she will meet everyone after death who turned to her.

Days of the Councils of the Saints and the date of finding the relics

There are 3 more dates when the days of memory of the Matrona of Moscow are celebrated. One of the days is March 8th. This is the day of finding the relics of the Holy. By order of the patriarch, the relics of the Matrona of Moscow were removed from her grave and sent to the Danilovsky Monastery, and then transferred to the Intercession Monastery, where they are to this day. Pilgrims come here with appeals, requests, and just to speak out with the hope and faith that they will be heard.

In addition, Matrona is commemorated on September 2 on the day of the Cathedral of the Moscow Saints and on October 5 - on the day of the Cathedral of the Tula Saints.
